当センターについて

当センターは、2024年４月、東北大学高度教養教育・学生支援機構の業務センターとして創設されました。東北大学のビジョンに基づき、本学の社会価値創造/アントレプレナーシップ教育のリソースを活用し、新たな教育プログラムを開発・体系化し学生や社会に提供しています。

日本の未来を担う人材の育成は極めて重要です。本センターでは、専門や学年を問わず、社会価値創造のためのコンピテンシーを獲得できる教育の提供を目指しています。社会価値創造教育は、単なる起業教育にとどまらず、自身のキャリア形成、価値創造マインドの醸成、機会創出、共創、そして社会実装までを包括する広義の概念として捉えています。この考えに基づき、アントレプレナーシップ教育のノウハウと実績を活かしながら、学内のスタートアップ推進組織や自治体・企業とのパートナーシップを活用し、多様なプログラムを開発・提供を図っていきます。
また、当センターは国内外の教育・研究機関との連携を強化し、国際的に通用する教育プログラムの開発にも注力していききます。特に、UCB（カリフォルニア大学バークレー校）、エコールポリテク、タリン工科大学との協力を通じて、社会の変化に適応できるグローバルスタンダードな教育を共創し、学生が実践的な経験を積める機会を提供します。さらに、地域社会との連携を深めることで、社会価値創造教育の普及にも貢献し、より多くの人々が新たな価値を生み出せる環境づくりを推進していきます。

About the VDEC

The Center was established in April 2024 as part of the Institute for Excellence in Higher Education and Student Support at Tohoku University. Aligned with the university’s vision, the Center utilizes Tohoku University’s resources in social value creation and entrepreneurship education to develop, systematize, and deliver innovative educational programs for students and society.

Nurturing talent to lead the future of the world is of paramount importance. At the Value Design Education Center, we are committed to providing education that enables students, regardless of their field of study or academic year, to acquire the competencies necessary for social value creation.

We perceive social value creation education as a broad concept that extends beyond entrepreneurship. It encompasses career development, the cultivation of a value-creation mindset, opportunity generation, co-creation, and the practical implementation of ideas in society.

Guided by this philosophy, we leverage our expertise and achievements in entrepreneurship education while actively collaborating with on-campus startup promotion organizations, local governments, and private enterprises to develop and deliver diverse educational programs.

Furthermore, our center is dedicated to strengthening collaboration with educational and research institutions both in Japan and abroad, focusing on the development of globally relevant educational programs. In particular, through partnerships with the University of California, Berkeley (UCB), École Polytechnique, and Tallinn University of Technology, etc., and the entrepreneurship education projects within the university and the local community, we co-create education that adapts to evolving societal needs, providing students with opportunities for practical experience. Additionally, by deepening our engagement with local communities, we aim to promote the dissemination of social value creation education, fostering an environment where more individuals can generate new value and contribute to a sustainable and innovative society.
